Rainbow Honey: The Yokai Collection

I've been absent from the blog and Facebook for the last few weeks but I'm back. And I have some very gorgeous lacquers to share from Rainbow Honey.

I recently received The Yokai Collection from Rainbow Honey, which is a limited edition, three piece collection. Yokai are supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore so this collection makes for a great break from traditional Halloween themed collections that are currently on the market.

I used two coats of each lacquer and one coat of Poshe fast dry topcoat. All photos were taken in natural light, without flash.

Kitsune: The Magical White Fox
Kitsune has a golden cream base that is chock full of autumnal hues -- gold, bronze, and orange -- with a golden shimmer throughout.
Kitsune is an excellent way to do a neutral glitter. The polish is soft and subtle in a good way. Kitsune has a warmth that makes it seem to glow.

Kawako: The Mischievous River Child
Kawako has a stunning midnight blue base with blue and silver glitter throughout. It has a somewhat iridescent quality that you can see in the photo above.

Kawako is a versatile sort of lacquer that would be perfect for a night on the town or paired with business wear. This reminds me of the ocean depths and is definitely a polish I found it easy to dive into.

Oni: The Malevolent Wild Demon
Oni has a hearty brown base with golden flecks and glitters disbursed throughout.
Oni was my favorite of the trio, although I loved each of them. Like Kitsune, Oni seems to glow from within and is the perfect fall color. This one makes me want to curl up with a good book and a mug of hot chocolate.

Application was great with all three lacquers. They are very dense so it's best to wait a little bit between layers.

Rainbow Honey polishes are available here. The Yokai Collection went on sale yesterday aYou should also check out the Rainbow Honey Facebook page for updates and other great information.

Note: The products in this post were provided to me for my honest review.

Shimmer Polish: Tracy

One of my favorite nudies is China Glaze Fast Track, which came out of China Glaze's Hunger Games collection.
Usually I wear this one on its own, but I've been looking for something to layer over it for a while. And I found that something when I received Shimmer Polish Tracy.
Tracy is described as being a "tarnished gold holo glitter polish" and I think "tarnished gold" is the perfect way to describe this beauty.
Here is one coat of Tracy over Fast Track:

NotTooPolished: GRANGER

It's Harry Potter's birthday today. So in honor of that, I have NotTooPolished's GRANGER, named for one of Harry's best friends, Hermione Granger. And, like Hermione, GRANGER sports the colors of Gryffindor -- a beautiful red-burgundy jelly base with square and hex shaped glitter dispersed throughout. I lurve it.

Check out all of the depth in the bottle:

And here are three thin coats of GRANGER with one coat of Poshe fast dry topcoat. No undies in sight for this beauty.

Feenix Polish: Waikiki Sunset

Anyone reading from a tropical location? Anyone wish that they were reading from a tropical location? Anyone thinking, who in their right mind would be on a nail blog if they were in a tropical location right now?

Well I don't have the big bucks to go on a tropical vacation this summer or really summer in the foreseeable future, but if you can't have the beach, might as well bring the beach to your nails. And that's exactly what Feenix Polish Waikiki Sunset does.

From Feenix Polish's description of Waikiki Sunset on Etsy

Once upon a time, I was sitting on the beach at Waikiki. The sun was going down. The gorgeous Hawaiian surf was showing all sorts of shades of aqua, and sparks of orange and gold were dancing off the tops of the waves. I shared that moment with someone I loved - and it was truly magical.

I don't know about you, but that makes me want to get on a beach right now. Alas, I'll settle for Waikiki Sunset as my manicure.

This macro shot shows the teal-based, shimmery lacquer with gold holographic hexes disbursed throughout:

Metametics Part 1: Fire Nation & Lannister Gold

I hope that everyone is having a lazy Sunday. It's too hot here to do anything outside so I'm catching up on indoor work, like organizing all of my swatch photos and taking care of all of the paperwork associated with starting a small business. On the plus side, that means I will hopefully be open for business soon.

Recently I purchased 4 polishes from a relatively new store on Etsy: Metametics. I received Fire Nation, Lannister's Gold, Highly Functioning Sociopath, andGod of Mischief. From the Etsy shop:
Metametics lacquers are inspired by sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture. Made by geeks, for geeks!
Today I have Fire Nation and Lannister Gold.

Fire Nation has a slightly orange-tinted jelly base and gold, orange, and red glitters of various sizes and shapes dispersed throughout. It is from Metametics' Avatar collection.

Lannister Gold is a gold-hued jelly with gold glitter of various shapes and sizes dispersed throughout. It is from Metametics' Game of Thrones collection.

Amy's Nail Boutique: I Pity The Fool

Sorry for the late post today but I had a cranky kiddo who was not interested in sticking to bedtime whatsoever.

On to the nail polish! I have another one from Amy's Nail Boutique this evening. Up tonight is I Pity The Fool, a coppery, golden holo glitter polish that is glowy and ethereal. Over the weekend it was pretty rainy and dreary and I wanted a warm and cozy polish. So I Pity The Fool was my choice and I was very happy with it.

Check out the glow for yourself! Bottle macros:

And here are three coats of I Pity The Fool, no undies, next to a window to pick up on the glow of the holo glitters:
