Polished Intentions

Happy Sunday everyone!

I was recently contacted by Joanna of Polished Intentions to see if I'd be interested in some of her shop's collection and I jumped at the chance based on the photos on the Polished Intentions Etsy shop.

I received Iceburg Ahead, Embers, and Nightmares and Gemscapes, three creme based lacquers with glitter throughout.

This is Halloween Nail Art Challenge October 1: Horror Movies

Okay here is my first try at public nail art. It's not the best, but I only recently decided to participate in this challenge and it actually happens to honor my favorite horror film -- Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

The first time I watched The Birds was during some sort of AMC 30 Days of Halloween marathon. I was home alone and completely sick with a cold. During a particularly suspenseful scene, I realized that I was suddenly gasping for breath because I had literally forgotten to breathe. No gross out moments, just really amazing suspense that builds throughout the film.

Sorry in advance for the crappy photography. I really wanted to make sure I started the challenge on time so I was rushing last night.

Here are the colors I used:
From left to right: Misa Grey Matters; OPI Skull & Glossbones; China Glaze Sea Spray; Zoya Dovima.

I started off with one coat of Grey Matters and added on Skull & Glossbones and Sea Spray in a sort of haphazard manner to mimic a gloomy day by the water.

Then I used a dotting tool and Dovima to create my little birds.
Watch out they might come and get you!

Tough As Nails Lacquer Updates

(1) I've updated my blog sale with newly reduced pricing! Check it out: BLOG SALE!

(2) I've added two new colors to the line!

Not a Plain Jane: Available on Etsy.
Not A Plain Jane is a topcoat lacquer, containing hex glitters in varying shades of white and pink, along with a few white hearts. Not A Plain Jane is named for one of my favorite people. She is sophisticated, feminine, completely fun, and known to sprinkle fairy dust in the lives of those she loves.
Over Julep Penelope:
Over OPI Fly (teal) and Butter London Snog (pink):

 43 Quintillion: Available on Etsy.
43 Quintillion is a topcoat lacquer. It contains hex glitters all of the colors you might find on a certain cube-shaped game from the 1980s, which happens to have forty-three quintillion combinations. 43 Quintillions is the life of the party -- she's a little bit wild, a little bit mixed up, and is always working to see how high she can get her bangs and how crimped she can get her hair.
Over China Glaze Happy Go Lucky:

 Over China Glaze Manhunt:
 Over Confetti Lonesome Dove:
In honor of the new additions, there is an EXCLUSIVE BONUS FOR FACEBOOK FANS of the Tough As Nails Lacquer Facebook page: take 10% off of your order with the code FBFAN10 at checkout.

Candeo Colors: Orchid

Candeo Colors is a relatively new-to-me brand, mostly because the shop normally sold out too quickly for me to get anything. But I was recently able to acquire a few of them, Orchid being one. Orchid has a beautiful magenta jelly base with holo glitters disbursed throughout.

I opted to use Orchid as a layering polish over a shimmery magenta, China Glaze Ahoy!

Shimmer Polish: Tracy

One of my favorite nudies is China Glaze Fast Track, which came out of China Glaze's Hunger Games collection.
Usually I wear this one on its own, but I've been looking for something to layer over it for a while. And I found that something when I received Shimmer Polish Tracy.
Tracy is described as being a "tarnished gold holo glitter polish" and I think "tarnished gold" is the perfect way to describe this beauty.
Here is one coat of Tracy over Fast Track:

Dollish Polish: Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitter

I had the opportunity to pre-buy some Dollish Polish lacquers from Overall Beauty a little while back and one of those lacquers was Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitter, a shimmery mint-based polish with pink, blue, magenta, and purple glitter disbursed throughout. It arrived in the mail about a week ago and I've been itching to try it out ever since then.
 Bottle macro:
I started off my manicure with China Glaze Re-fresh Mint:
And added a coat of Sweet Dreams on top:

Blue Monday with Pretty & Polished: Peace Camp

It's Blue Monday on the blog and I have Pretty & Polished Peace Camp.
Peace Camp is from a relatively recent collection by Pretty & Polished and has white, yellow, and blue matte hexes in a shimmery pale blue base.

My ring finger shows three coats of Peace Camp no undies and the rest show two coats of China Glaze Flyin' High:

Dollish Polish: The Hero of Time

My brother and I used to take turns playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time all the time when we were younger. And then I got stuck in the water level and had to have him beat the rest of the game for me. But I have a lot of fond memories of Zelda.

So Dollish Polish's The Legend of Zelda Duo holds a special place in my heart.

Here is The Hero of Time:

Tough As Nails Lacquer: Spacing Out

Apologies for my lack of posting yesterday. I had a serious migraine that prevented me from doing my nails, which was a real tragedy. But today, I have one of my very own babies to show you -- Spacing Out!

Spacing Out is a black jelly that looks like . . . space. I know, you have to really think about the name to get it. It has silver, blue, and teal glitter disbursed throughout to give it that deep space look, including some holos that I love. (Of course I love it, it's my lacquer).

Here is Spacing Out on the nails! Check this beauty out!
All photos were taken in natural light, without flash, and show one coat China Glaze Liquid Leather, one coat Spacing Out, and one coat Poshe fast dry topcoat.
I enjoy as much versatility in a lacquer as possible, so Spacing Out can be worn as a layering color or on its own if you're looking for a more jelly-like lacquer.
Spacing Out will be available very, very soon (maybe even this weekend!) so stay tuned for updates!

Blue Mondays with Absolut Lacquer Maybe I'm Crazy

So truth be told, Absolut Lacquer Maybe I'm Crazy isn't a blue lacquer. But it looked so beautiful over a blue lacquer that I decided to include it in today's Blue Monday anyways.

Maybe I'm Crazy is a glitter bomb topcoat with pretty much a little bit of everything: hexes, bars, squares, in every color under the sun.
 Ahh, glitter:
And here are two coats of Maybe I'm Crazy over China Glaze Manhunt. Isn't this a fun combination? I really like featuring this glitter bomb over blue instead of the usual white, black, or gray.

Feenix Polish: Feenix Rising

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I hope that you're spending it with family and friends and BBQ food.

I don't have a red, white, and blue manicure to show you because it seems like everyone has that today. So to be different, I chose teals and and one of the most beautiful glitter topcoats I've ever seen, Feenix Polish Feenix Rising:

And here is Feenix Rising on the nails. Isn't this beautiful?
