Rainbow Honey: The Yokai Collection

I've been absent from the blog and Facebook for the last few weeks but I'm back. And I have some very gorgeous lacquers to share from Rainbow Honey.

I recently received The Yokai Collection from Rainbow Honey, which is a limited edition, three piece collection. Yokai are supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore so this collection makes for a great break from traditional Halloween themed collections that are currently on the market.

I used two coats of each lacquer and one coat of Poshe fast dry topcoat. All photos were taken in natural light, without flash.

Kitsune: The Magical White Fox
Kitsune has a golden cream base that is chock full of autumnal hues -- gold, bronze, and orange -- with a golden shimmer throughout.
Kitsune is an excellent way to do a neutral glitter. The polish is soft and subtle in a good way. Kitsune has a warmth that makes it seem to glow.

Kawako: The Mischievous River Child
Kawako has a stunning midnight blue base with blue and silver glitter throughout. It has a somewhat iridescent quality that you can see in the photo above.

Kawako is a versatile sort of lacquer that would be perfect for a night on the town or paired with business wear. This reminds me of the ocean depths and is definitely a polish I found it easy to dive into.

Oni: The Malevolent Wild Demon
Oni has a hearty brown base with golden flecks and glitters disbursed throughout.
Oni was my favorite of the trio, although I loved each of them. Like Kitsune, Oni seems to glow from within and is the perfect fall color. This one makes me want to curl up with a good book and a mug of hot chocolate.

Application was great with all three lacquers. They are very dense so it's best to wait a little bit between layers.

Rainbow Honey polishes are available here. The Yokai Collection went on sale yesterday aYou should also check out the Rainbow Honey Facebook page for updates and other great information.

Note: The products in this post were provided to me for my honest review.

Breakfast Combo No. 1! A Duo with The Baconian Method and Go Sit On A Egg

The latest addition to the Tough As Nails Lacquer line is a duo. Breakfast Combo No. 1 includes The Baconian Method and Go Sit On A Egg. This playful duo is for sale on the Tough As Nails Lacquer Etsy shop. Shorty size duos are $10 and full size duos are $16.

THE BACONIAN METHOD
The Baconian Method is a brown glitter topcoat. It includes brown, orange, red, black, and white glitters in hex and bar shapes.
Here is one coat of The Baconian Method over one coat of Cult Nails Swanborne, a brown lacquer with a gold shimmer:

GO SIT ON A EGG
Go Sit On A Egg is a delicious almost white but still yellow jelly-based lacquer with gold, yellow, and orange hex glitters dispersed throughout. The poor grammar is intentional, and "Go Sit On A Egg" doubles as a lacquer and a great phrase that a beloved in-black-and-white child actor muttered in one of my favorite television series.
Here are three coats of Go Sit On A Egg, no undies:

I hope that you enjoy the latest additions to my line!

Metametics Part 1: Fire Nation & Lannister Gold

I hope that everyone is having a lazy Sunday. It's too hot here to do anything outside so I'm catching up on indoor work, like organizing all of my swatch photos and taking care of all of the paperwork associated with starting a small business. On the plus side, that means I will hopefully be open for business soon.

Recently I purchased 4 polishes from a relatively new store on Etsy: Metametics. I received Fire Nation, Lannister's Gold, Highly Functioning Sociopath, andGod of Mischief. From the Etsy shop:
Metametics lacquers are inspired by sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture. Made by geeks, for geeks!
Today I have Fire Nation and Lannister Gold.

Fire Nation has a slightly orange-tinted jelly base and gold, orange, and red glitters of various sizes and shapes dispersed throughout. It is from Metametics' Avatar collection.

Lannister Gold is a gold-hued jelly with gold glitter of various shapes and sizes dispersed throughout. It is from Metametics' Game of Thrones collection.

Fair warning this post is a little picture heavy.

Amy's Nail Boutique: Pink Lemonade

Amy and I are both members of a Facebook group so I was privileged enough to see her polishes before they hit her Etsy shop.

As soon as she opened Amy's Nail Boutique I hopped over there as fast as possible to pick up a couple of shades.

One that I had been eyeing is Pink Lemonade, which has fine pink and yellow matte hex glitters in a clear base. LOVE. I guess this could be called Floam's pretty little sister if I had to make a comparison, but check it out for yourself:

Pretty & Polished: Phoenix

Pretty & Polished's Phoenix is a rather new addition to owner Chelsea's line of brilliant lacquers.  My indie polish collection is probably 50% comprised of Pretty & Polished polishes and I enjoy each one I've tried.

Check out Phoenix!

Phoenix is comprised of canary yellow matte hexes and small and medium sized red metallic hexes. So unique!
